Purpose

Drive the creative vision and personally deliver projects across various mediums, ensuring the delivery of impactful design solutions that resonate with all audiences. This role serves as the driver of innovation and storytelling, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to transform concepts into visually compelling narratives.

The individual plays a pivotal role in elevating and maintaining the team’s creative standards and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. The individual is also responsible for delivering high-priority, strategic design projects from concept to execution while providing mentorship and coaching to a Graphic Designer.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Graphic Design & Multimedia Production:

  • Lead the design process for various projects, including print, digital, video, signage, and promotional materials.
  • Generate innovative design concepts and visual solutions that meet business objectives and enhance brand identity.
  • Collaborate across the creative team to ensure consistency and quality across all creative deliverables.
  • Individually design and produce brand assets across various mediums from creative request brief.
  • Direct production of creative assets across print, fabrication, and video with methodical attention to detail and execution.

Creative Concept Development:

  • Lead brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas and concepts for projects across different mediums.
  • Work closely with the VP of Brand & Communications to develop compelling design strategies and storytelling narratives.
  • Work with stakeholders and vendors to understand objectives, align on creative assets/executions, set realistic deadlines, and deliver against objectives

Client Interaction & Collaboration:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, understanding their needs and preferences and translating them into effective design solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback, refine designs, and ensure project alignment with expectations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Work closely with copywriters, web developers, and other team members to integrate design elements seamlessly into marketing materials and digital platforms. Collaborate with manufacturing partners and production teams to ensure the accurate execution of design concepts across physical assets. Maintain positive relationships across the organization.

Job Requirements

Education, Essential Training / Certifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, video production, art or a related field and 5-10 years of industry experience.
  • Hospitality or Agency experience highly desired

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Design Software:

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant multimedia design and production tools (e.g. After Effects for motion graphics or Premiere Pro for video editing)

Multi-Media Production:

  • Experience with both video and audio production and editing tools (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Audition)

Typography & Layout

  • Strong understanding of typography principles and the ability to effectively incorporate typography into design compositions.
  • Design Software:

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant multimedia design and production tools (e.g. After Effects for motion graphics or Premiere Pro for video editing)

Typography & Layout

  • Strong understanding of typography principles and the ability to effectively incorporate typography into design compositions.
  • Strong proficiency in layout design for print and digital mediums, including magazine layouts, signage, sales & marketing collateral, etc.

Color Theory and Branding:

  • Knowledge of color theory and the ability to create visually appealing color schemes that align with brand guidelines.
  • Experience in branding and identity design, including logo design, brand style guides, and brand collateral.

Print Production Knowledge:

  • Understanding of print production processes and file preparation for various print materials, including brochures, flyers, and business cards.
  • Knowledge of print specifications, color profiles, and file formats for optimal printing results.

Signage and Environmental Design Skills:

  • Experience in designing signage and environmental graphics for physical spaces, including retail stores, events, and exhibitions.
  • Understanding of scale, materials, and installation requirements for signage and environmental graphics.

Photography and Image Editing Skills:

  • Proficiency in photography principles and experience with photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom) for image enhancement and manipulation.
  • Knowledge of image sourcing and licensing for incorporating stock photography into designs.
