News

We take your security seriously and want to ensure you remain well-informed and protected against potential threats. It has come to our attention that international criminals are targeting members of the vacation industry with phishing scams aimed at collecting personal and financial data. Through the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), we learned these entities may impersonate our company, using our name and logo, or present themselves as an otherwise legitimate law firm, real estate & title agency, or advocacy group with an offer for their timeshare ownership.

While we do not have knowledge of criminal activity targeting our members, we do want to raise awareness and ask for your assistance in identifying and notifying us of potentially fraudulent activity and communications you receive by email, phone, mail, or SMS text.

How Fraudulent Scams Work

  • Impersonating Capital Vacations: The scammers will use our trusted brand identity to gain your trust and then exploit it for malicious purposes.
  • Phishing Email: You may receive a letter or email that appears to be from Capital Vacations, asking you to provide personal information or account details. Note, we will never request such information via email.
  • Fake Websites: These scammers often redirect you to counterfeit websites that look similar to our official site. Always double-check the URL and ensure you are on our genuine website.
  • Money Requests: Fraudsters may ask you to wire money, claiming it's for urgent reasons related to your account or a fake transaction. They may demand large up-front fees before providing any services. This may include fees for listing, advertising, or legal services related to timeshare sales or transfers. Legitimate companies typically do not require significant up-front payments.
  • Asking for Off-Property Meetings: Scammers often ask for meetings outside of the timeshare property or official sales offices.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Verify Email Sources: Always double-check the sender's email address. Legitimate communications from us will come from official Capital Vacations domains.
  • Don't Share Personal Information: We will never ask you for sensitive information like passwords or financial details via email or phone. If in doubt, contact us directly through our official channels.
  • Visit Our Official Website: Ensure you are on the correct website by verifying the URL in your browser's address bar.
  • Be Cautious with Money Requests: Do not transfer funds to anyone claiming to represent us or a buyer without verifying their authenticity.
