Job Title: Accounting Assistant

Position Reports To: Accounting Supervisor

Job Summary: Full Time Position. Responsibilities may include any or all of the following: preparing and updating various reports using Excel and Word; bank deposit preparation; filing; mail processing; various other general office duties on an as-needed basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and/or update various Excel and Word documents.
  • Preparing all bank deposits on a regular basis.
  • Opening, sorting, and distributing mail for the accounting department.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned or requested by the Supervisor, Director of Finance or VP of Finance.
  • Based on departmental needs, certain times of the year, and specific bookkeeping deadlines, overtime may be required.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, white out fumes, powder from print cartridges, cleaning supplies and risk of micro waves from micro wave ovens. The work environment is that of a typical office with a moderate noise level. This noise level is created by light foot traffic and office equipment noise such as computers, printers, calculators, phones, etc.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, talk, hear, taste and smell. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Occasionally move or lifts boxes weighing up to 35 lbs.

Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and education and/or experience in accounting and bookkeeping including basic understanding of general accounting practices and principles. Ability to work independently on a variety of tasks. Good math skills with the ability to run ten-key adding machine by touch, typewriter and Excel and Word software.
